Consultations and Feedback

Center staff consult with faculty, staff, and teaching assistants on teaching issues of all kinds, including help with presentation skills, ideas for engaging the class, dealing with challenging students, and developing teaching portfolios.

As part of the Center for Teaching’s mission to further excellence in teaching and learning at Iowa, we offer different types of consultations for individuals as well as departments.

Teaching Consultations

We provide free, voluntary, and confidential conversations about any aspect of your teaching practice.

Classroom Observation

We provide non-evaluative feedback on class sessions according to an instructor’s questions and needs.

Student Feedback

We can help instructors collect and respond to student feedback in a variety of forms at any point in the semester, including Classroom Assessment by Student Interview (CLASSI).

Departmental Consultations

Departments that would like a workshop, sparkshop, consultation, or other formats (such as a book club) may reach out to the Center.
