Participate in the Inclusive Teaching in Practice Program
Inclusive teaching is a pedagogical approach that aims to create a learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and engaged.
In collaboration with the department or unit, the Center for Teaching proposes and discusses an inclusive teaching program to best meet their needs. Programs can include:
Workshops (60 or 90 minutes)
Sparkshops (15 to 45 minutes)*
Retreats
Inclusive Teaching Program learning communities
Curriculum (re)design support
Inclusive teaching book clubs
*Sparkshops are interactive and evidence-based short workshops tailored to a department and/or discipline. They are conducted during departmental events and work best as a series.
Sparkshop and Workshop Topics
The topics in the series can be determined in response to the needs and emerging questions of the department. We tailor the event format to each unit's goals and are glad to work with you to develop support appropriate to your context. Popular topics include:
Transparency in learning and teaching
Assessment
Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Rethinking course policies for accessibility
Inclusive rigor

Inclusive Teaching Resources
Inclusive teaching resources support instructors looking for evidence-based strategies on topics like difficult dialogues, civil discourse, and sense of belonging. These resources may be helpful to anyone interested learning how to make their students feel more welcome.
