Transforming Your Research Into Teaching (TYRIT) Workshop Series
Tuesday, April 9, 2024

The Transforming Your Research Into Teaching (TYRIT) Workshop Series introduces participants to an evidence-based course design framework and helps them design a course based on their current area of research interest or one they may need to teach in their future careers. TYRIT is open to all graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

Participants will work slowly, one aspect of course design at a time, to have time to fully develop their ideas. They will also serve as thought partners for fellow graduate students as they construct their own courses.

 Workshop Benefits:

  • Design a syllabus for a unique and specific course you can teach.
  • Learn and practice effective teaching strategies.
  • Learn and implement course design fundamentals.
  • Receive CIRTL Associate Level certificate.

Workshop Logistics:

  • This workshop uses the “flipped course” format. For each session, you will watch a series of videos covering important course design concepts. We will spend time during our in-person meetings discussing what you have learned, answering questions, and providing mutual feedback on one another’s projects. Including time spent in meetings, expect to spend between five and six hours per week engaging with content and working on your course.
  • The workshops run for three weeks on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12 - 1 p.m. CDT, June 17 through July 8. Attendance at all sessions is highly recommended.

The deadline to register for the TYRIT Workshop Series is May 24, 2024.

Participation in TYRIT provides Associate Level certification through CIRTL. Faculty may register for the Center for Teaching’s summer Course Design Institute
