Wendi Griffiths

Graduate Assistant, Center for Teaching
Biography

Wendi is excited to be supporting the Center for Teaching as a Graduate Assistant. Some of the programs she will support include the Early Career Faculty Programs, as well as Course and Curriculum Design. Prior to coming to the University of Iowa for her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Voice Performance, Wendi spent several years as an adjunct faculty in multiple universities. As an instructor, she has taught one-on-one voice and piano, as well as several general education music courses, pedagogy for singers, and other voice-major specific classes. Wendi is also a sought-after collaborative pianist and music director. She has also worked in arts administration and marketing in nonprofit and higher education.

As she throws herself into her DMA studies, her areas of research will include 21st-century curriculum in the higher education music unit, musical theatre repertoire in the classical voice studio, and muscle activation in the jaw and neck in musical theatre versus classical styles of singing.
